Jedibeel Returns In Blaze Of Glory

A new-look Jedibeel was sent out a dominant favourite on his 1000 metre return on the Kensington track at Randwick and his army of supporters were rewarded with an easy
watch.

The son of Savabeel, who had been gelded since last racing, was produced in prime order off a six month break by trainer Brad Widdup to win with authority.

Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, Jedibeel sat in third spot on the fence before he angled into the clear 250 metres from home and powered clear under rider Tyler Schiller for a hollow victory.

The patiently handled four-year-old now has a quartet of wins and four placings from his 10 appearances.

Jedibeel is a son of the unraced O’Reilly mare Starry, who has left five winners including the Group-performed Starrybeel and she is a half-sister to the Listed Widden Stakes winner Delta Girl.

It is most notably the family of Waikato Stud’s superstar sprinter and G1 TJ Smith Stakes winner I Wish I Win and the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk.

Starry foaled a filly by Noverre last season and is back in foal to the Group 1-winning son of Savabeel.

Jedibeel was originally sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale for $35,000 and was later purchased by Widdup for A$190,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
