Cindy lands major Scone prize

Fall For Cindy - Ash Brennan Photography

Genuine four-year-old Fall For Cindy significantly added to her future broodmare value with a decisive victory in the G3 Dark Jewel Classic at Scone on Saturday.

The John O’Shea-trained daughter of the late Sacred Falls had dead-heated for first in a lower grade at Hawkesbury at her previous appearance, and the Waikato Stud-bred and raced mare handled a rise in class with aplomb.

“It’s a great result for Waikato Stud. She’s one of Garry’s team, and I’d say her value has doubled now,” O’Shea’s Assistant Trainer/Racing Manager Tom Charlton said.

“She has progressed so well this mare and so content, she’s racing really well and just hitting her straps now.”

Fall For Cindy settled back of midfield, and she produced a sterling finish closest to the rail for rider Zac Lloyd.

“It was a lovely win, but the first half of the race didn’t go to plan,” he said.

“I wanted to be a bit closer and off the rail, but when I asked, she quickened really well.”

The winner of five of her 15 starts, Fall For Cindy is a daughter of the Savabeel mare Cindy Cee who is an unraced half-sister to the G2 Cal Isuzu S. winner Sports Illustrated.

Their dam Pin Up is a half-sister to stud graduate and multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Starcraft and the stake winner and three-time elite level placegetter Forum Floozie.

All three of Cindy Cee’s foals to race have been successful and she produced a colt by resident stallion Ardrossan last season.
