Savabeel’s Son Strikes Again

Gottabesavvy’s golden run of form this campaign continued on the Hillside track at Sandown on Wednesday afternoon.

The four-year-old son of Savabeel producing a rousing finish in the home stretch to account for his Benchmark 70 rivals over 1800 metres and now has a brace of wins and five minor placings from his last seven appearances.

“It’s so good to see him get another city win,” said Trent Busuttin, who prepares the Waikato Stud graduate with Natalie Young.

“He’s been around the mark all preparation and puts in every time.”

Gottabesavvy settled toward the back on the field on the rail before improving near the turn and rider Ben Allen was able to navigate a clear path through runners for the gelding’s fifth career victory.

He was purchased by Busuttin Racing and Clarke Bloodstock for A$100,000 at the Inglis Ready to Race Sale where he was offered on behalf of the Matamata farm by Ohukia Lodge.

Gottabesavvy is a son of the eight-time winner Girls On Top, whose five foals to race have all been successful.

The O’Reilly mare is a half-sister to multiple Singapore stakes winner and former Horse of the Year Currency and has an unraced two-year-old daughter of Ocean Park.
