Harry follows proud family tradition
Harry Chittick added to his family’s rich selling history at this week’s Inglis Ready2Race Sale at Riverside Stables.
The 18-year-old son of Waikato Stud principal Mark became a third-generation member to sell at an Inglis auction when he offered the Waikato Stud-bred Super Seth colt through the draft of Ohukia Lodge.
Presented as Lot 15, the youngster proved particularly popular before he was finally knocked down to Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu for A$240,000.
“It was really nerve-racking, I couldn’t sleep (the night before) but it is all worth it and it all paid off,” Harry Chittick said.
The son of farm resident Super Seth is a half-brother to a brace of winners with their dam the unraced Thorn Park mare Believe You Me.
She is a three-quarter sister to the stakes winner Alberton Park and the family of the G1 Captain Cook Stakes winner and multiple top-flight placegetter Wyndspelle.
Believe You Me produced a filly by Noverre last season and is again due to foal to the Group 1-winning son of Savabeel.
This result topped off a phenomenal three days for Super Seth who sired the second-placegetter Feroce in the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday and a back-to-back winner in Hong Kong on Sunday, the WSNZBred Patch Of Cosmo (ex Thee (by Savabeel)).
Interestingly, both were sourced from a Ready to Run Sale.
Noverre’s sibling salutes at Pukekohe
The Waikato Stud colours were out in force on Saturday, 8 November, and Magice (ex Magic Dancer) continued a wonderful day for Garry Chittick, who bred and races the son of Savabeel and is the full brother to first-season sire Noverre.
