Five winners in five days for Ocean Park
Oceana Dream kicked off a winning streak for Ocean Park, with the unbeaten three-year-old – trained by Roger James and Robert Wellwood – making it back-to-back wins at Ellerslie on Saturday, 1 February.
Raced in the Wanless colours, Oceana Dream was both bred and is raced by the same connections behind Centennial Park, a son of Super Seth trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy.
Meanwhile, Tony Pike’s four-year-old Lanikai (ex Oahu), bred and sold by Waikato Stud at the Karaka Yearling Sale, added another victory to his record with a strong performance over 1800m at New Plymouth, securing a Saturday double for Ocean Park.
Fast forward to Tuesday, and Nature Boy – at start number 113 – delivered a two-length victory over 2220m in Australia, showcasing the longevity and versatility of Ocean Park’s progeny.
The momentum continued on Wednesday with a winning double at Riccarton.
Four-year-old gelding Miraqua claimed Race 1, followed by three-year-old filly Those Ocean Eyes in Race 2, bringing Ocean Park’s tally to five winners in just a few days.
With four Group 1 winners and 44 stakes performers to his name, Ocean Park continues to be a proven source of performance.
Wee Nessy breaks her maiden in style
Savabeel’s three-year-old filly Wee Nessy impressed at Ellerslie, charging home to break her maiden in dominant fashion. The win marked Savabeel’s 1057th individual winner, with his progeny earnings surpassing $208 million as his legacy continues to grow.
