A winning Wednesday across the southern hemisphere for Savabeel

The winners kept rolling on Wednesday, with nine-time Champion Sire Savabeel posting three winners across New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong.

The day began with a strong victory for the Andrew Forsman-trained Rainbow Daylight, a Waikato Stud-bred four-year-old son of Savabeel out of dual Group 1-winning Thorn Park mare Suavito. It was just his fifth start.

Rainbow Daylight is a half-brother to Sethito (by Super Seth), who has already made her mark with victory in the Gr.3 Boncrusher Stakes, racing in the iconic Waikato Stud colours for Garry Chittick.

Across the Tasman, the Ciaron Maher-trained Khor proved too tough for a competitive 15-horse field. Bred by the Andertons of White Robe Lodge, who remain part-owners, Khor dug deep to claim the win under Jamie Mott, carrying 60kg. He races in the same well-known colours as The Everest winner, Nature Strip.

The day finished on a high note in Hong Kong, where the Waikato Stud-bred M Unicorn (ex Candelabra) scored an impressive two-length win at Happy Valley. Purchased from Waikato Stud’s 2020 Karaka draft for $400,000 by Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, M Unicorn continues to deliver on his early promise.

Earlier this year, Neasham & Archibald Racing and William Johnson Bloodstock (FBAA) secured his three-quarter sibling by Noverre at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Savabeel’s legacy grows stronger with 10 Stakes winners already this season, including three Group 1 stars – Provence, Atishu and Savaglee. His son Jedibeel will look to add to that record when he lines up in the Gr.1 The Galaxy this weekend on Golden Slipper day at Rosehill Gardens.
