Savabeel inducted into the NZ Racing Hall of Fame
On Sunday evening in Hamilton, the achievements of the 2025 New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame inductees were celebrated, with a particularly special moment reserved for champion sire Savabeel.
Eleven years after his own sire Zabeel was honoured, and 17 years after the legendary Sir Tristram – the breed-shaping stallion who laid the foundations of the dynasty – Savabeel joined them as an official inductee into the NZ Racing Hall of Fame.
From a Group 1-winning racehorse to one of the most influential stallions of the modern era, Savabeel has sired 151 stakes winners to date, including 35 individual Group 1 winners. His legacy continues to shape Australasian racing and breeding, cementing his place in the Hall of Fame alongside the giants of his lineage.
Watch this video tribute to celebrate the remarkable journey of Savabeel – from the racetrack to the breeding barn, and far beyond.
On behalf of WS, thank you to our incredible industry for helping Sav achieve such success.
