Knocks it out of the Park with a metro double across the Ocean

Ocean Park

Proven sire Ocean Park added another Australian metropolitan double to his résumé on Saturday, 28 June – a racing jurisdiction he knows well, having claimed three of Australia’s premier Group 1 titles during his own career: the Caulfield Stakes, Underwood Stakes and the coveted WS Cox Plate.

Now a Group 1-producing stallion in his own right, Ocean Park has sired the likes of Tofane, Kolding and Kovalica, along with the promising 2024 VRC Oaks-placed filly, Powers Of Opal.

Saturday’s metro double was led by Misterkipchoge at Rosehill Gardens, trained by Chris Waller and bred by Cliff Erb. He’s raced by a group that includes Waller himself and Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock Australia, whose colours he carried to victory.

The five-year-old gelding faced stiff competition in the straight from stablemate Pure Alpha (Ardrossan), but dug deep to cling on for a thrilling nose win.

Misterkipchoge now boasts two wins and eight placings from 21 starts, with career earnings of A$254,925.

It was across to Western Australia in the famous colours of Bob and Sandra Peters, with their bred and raced three-year-old son of Ocean Park, Arcadia Park, nabbing his second career victory from eight starts for trainer Michael Grantham.

His dam, Arcadia Dream, is a Group 2 winner herself and a half-sister to the Peters’ Group 1 star Arcadia Queen – he is the fourth foal of the Domesday mare who has exclusively visited Ocean Park. She has a weanling colt on the ground.

Ocean Park will stand for $15,000 plus GST for the coming breeding season.
