Acer gives Sav his 155th stakes winner in maiden victory
It was a hit-and-run mission for Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott’s Wexford team, who took a team of horses across to New Plymouth in pursuit of black type, and they did not fail.
Three-year-old filly Acer provided Savabeel with his 155th stakes winner when running away with the Listed Grangewilliam Stud Oaks Prelude (1800m) at her eighth start, marking her maiden victory.
Ridden by Erin Lighton, the pair were sent out at double-figure odds but proved punters wrong when winning by a half-length over Te Akau’s She Suits Herself, some 4.3 lengths on the rest of the field.
A daughter of Ekraar, Sweet Treat, the three-year-old was bred and is raced by Monovale Holdings Ltd.
