It’s An Ardy Party In Hong Kong With Two Wednesday Winners

With eight winners from 13 runners overall in Hong Kong, ARDROSSAN has started off particularly strong in the new season with three winners from just six runners headed by a double on Wednesday.

Having his second start this season, the Jamie Richards trained Sunday’s Serenade improved from his last start second to score on Wednesday night in the Fat Tseung Handicap (1650m).

With Zac Purton sticking strong after riding him last start, the Dewar Partnership bred 6yo gelding was winning for the third time in Hong Kong, coming along closer to the rail to score by one and a half lengths.

Bred on the successful Ardrossan x O’Reilly pedigree cross which has recorded six winners from seven runners highlighted by the stakes performed pair of Rezeki and O’Baby, Sunday’s Serenade’s dam Sunday Rose visited Ardy in her first five seasons at stud with her current 2yo, a unraced filly named Urban Diva based in Australia and one to look out for.

Five races later, 5yo Audacious Pursuit was having his first run of the season, winning the Hing Fat Handicap (1600m) narrowly to give Ardrossan his second winner of the meeting – more than any other stallion.

Trained by Caspar Fownes, the Dewar Partnership bred and Elsdon Park sold gelding was recording his third win from his last nine starts.

Audacious Pursuit is the second foal out of the Sebring mare Dolce Amore, who visited Ardrossan for her first five seasons at stud before producing a filly to Noverre (Savabeel) last season.

ARDROSSAN is standing this season at a fee of $20,000 plus GST, LFG, with the Group-winning son of Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice represented by 19 individual stakes performers with his Listed-winning filly De Armas running a gallant second last Saturday in the G1 ATC Flight Stakes (1600m) with connections looking to now head to the G1 MRC Thousand Guineas (1600m) at her next start.
