Back-to-back wins for Sav mare Precinct
Precinct made Hawkesbury her stage on Thursday, 11 September, when the daughter of Savabeel produced a polished performance to claim Race 5 in style. Having just her fourth career start, the four-year-old stamped her authority with a decisive 1.21-length victory over 1600m.
Prepared by leading trainer Ciaron Maher, Precinct carried the in-form Ash Morgan to the front from barrier two, and from there the result never looked in doubt. When asked for her finishing effort at the 400m, the mare responded with a sharp turn of foot, stretching clear to put the race to bed.
Racing in the Waikato Stud silks, Precinct is owned and raced by studmaster Mark Chittick in partnership with Kris Shailer.
She is the fifth foal of the O’Reilly mare Urban, who was exported to Australia earlier this year. Precinct is a full sister to Lloyd Kennewell’s Group-performed gelding Poison Chalice. Urban also has a Savabeel yearling colt and is due to foal to Noverre this season.
Savabeel stands this season at $100,000 plsu GST (no LFG, no maidens) and was inducted into the NZ Racing Hall of Fame earlier this year.
Tivaci’s Movie Night steals the show at Newcastle
