Exciting Battle Emerges Between Savabeel and Zabeel

The Dewar Award celebrates the NZ sire whose progeny has accumulated the most stakes earnings in Australia and New Zealand for the season.

As things stand the exciting young sire Savabeel holds a slim $17,000 buffer over his esteemed 42 time G1 producing sire Zabeel, with his leading Gr.1 ambassadors Sangster and Scarlett Lady significantly assisting him to number one spot with a total of $4,085,365 in Australasian earnings.

Savabeel’s foremost position represents a major sire award coup for Waikato Stud.

Not only does the Matamata stud stand the Dewar Award leader Savabeel, but the current leaders of the Grosvenor Award (NZ Earnings) and the Centaine Award (Global Earnings) in O’Reilly and Pins also.

The dominant WS trio dictate the top three spots of the Centaine Award and are strongly affirmed by their black-type progeny this season, with each sire counting 8 individual stakes winners.
