Farm yarns: Mark Chittick

We’re touching base with the WS Team each fortnight to see what’s been happening around the farm and this time we checked in with Mark at the Karaka sales complex where WS sold all five lots at the NZB Ready to Run Sale – enjoy!

There are under ten left to foal and we’re looking forward to the end of that after kicking off in August.

The breeding shed is starting to get a bit patchy now as we come towards the end of the breeding season down here. That has gone extremely well throughout the whole season and we’re well and truly past the 600 individual mares now, and the stallions have gone extremely well as have the team there.

All the yearlings are in for the Gold Coast, Karaka and Classic so the yearling area is humming along beautifully. We’ll hopefully get some nice and consistent weather to help their preparation. The first group of head off on the 27th of December to the Magic Millions.

We’ve been busy with visitors with the Ready to Run Sale; great to have the Mr Brightside team (of Lindsay Park Racing) to the farm and next Wednesday is SEN NZ with Gareth Hall coming live from the White Horse.

And just great to see Garry get a fantastic winner at Rotorua (Sethito: Super Seth ex Suavito)!
