Fashion Shoot fires early winning shot

Savabeel

Talented mare Fashion Shoot resumed in style at Hastings on Saturday afternoon with a dominant first-up display.

The Savabeel mare hadn’t raced since April, but was produced in tip-top order by trainers Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson for her 1200 metre return.

Bred by Waikato Stud with Howard and Pam Forbes, Fashion Shoot settled behind the leading pack and speared between runners in the straight under apprentice Niranjan Parmar to make it five victories from 25 outings.

“Niranjan used the good barrier to advantage and got into a lovely spot,” Bergerson said.

“He was patient and when the gap opened, they were through.”

Fashion Shoot is now likely to be given the opportunity to add a black-type victory to her record, which includes placings in the G3 Concorde H. and the G3 Canterbury Breeders’ S.

“There are plenty of options for her and she could end up back at Hastings on the last day for the Group 3 (Red Badge Spring Sprint),” Bergerson said.

Fashion Shoot is a daughter of the O’Reilly mare High Fashion, a gifted performer who was a dual Group 3 winner and is also the dam of the multiple winner and stakes performer Savvy Valentino.

High Fashion has an unraced Savabeel three-year-old filly named Fashion Savvy and had a colt by
Super Seth last season. She is due to foal this year to Noverre.
