Forgot You back to winning ways
Savabeel’s son Forgot You completed his successful return from serious injury when he produced a commanding performance at Flemington on Tuesday afternoon to win the Listed Furphy Plate over 1800 metres.
He unleased powerfully in the run home to deliver a satisfying victory for trainers Trent Busuttin and
Natalie Young.
Forgot You was the dual Group 2 winner of the Stutt S. and Moonee Valley Vase and finished third in the G1 Rosehill Guineas last season before he suffered a tendon injury.
“He broke down badly and (rehabilitation guru) Lee Evison did a fantastic job with him, as did the team at home, so it’s really good,” Busuttin said.
Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, Forgot You had placed in two of his last three starts and stripped in peak order for Flemington.
“He was still a bit fat, he’s a five-year-old bull now and he basically hadn’t raced for 18 months,” Busuttin said.
Forgot You settled second last for rider Blake Shinn and was still back in the field with 400 metres to run before he lengthened stride impressively to mow down his rivals.
He was a A$330,000 purchase for Busuttin at the Inglis Ready to Race Sale where he was offered on behalf of the Matamata nursery by Ohukia Lodge.
Forgot You is out of Simply You, a daughter of two-time Group 1 winner Glamour Puss, and she produced another colt by champion sire Savabeel last season.
