G2 Adelaide Cup Success For Tivaci’s American Wolf

In what was an exciting 3200m contest, Tivaci’s American Wolf took out Monday’s G2 Adelaide Cup at Morphettville in thrilling fashion, with Hurry Curry (Ocean Park) sporting the WS silks finishing in third off the back of her last start victory over 2400m.

Bred by Chittick Investments Ltd, the son of Tivaci was secured by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young from $110,000 from our NZB Karaka Book 1 draft in 2023 when put through the ring as just Lot 5.

Coming off a last start seventh behind Hurry Curry, the Jett Stanley ridden American Wolf settled in a mid-field position in the run on the rail conserving plenty of energy throughout.

With Will Clarken’s Komachi (IRE) going many lengths clear through the middles stage, American Wolf was needing a gap.

As the home turn was reached and the runs started to come, Lachlan Neindorf aboard favourite Highland Bling hit the lead and looked to make every post a winner.

American Wolf found a gap and came to the outside of Highland Bling while Hurry Curry started her run along the inside.

With American Wolf and Highland Bling settling down to fight it out, each had their turn and getting their head in front, but when it really mattered it was American Wolf who took the prize in photo result.

Recording his third win, and second at black type level, the 4yo has now earned connections $416,585 from his 16 starts.

In what was clearly the biggest win of Jett Stanley’s career, the jockey fell off American Wolf as they headed back towards the enclosure, waiting for the results of the photo.

“The ambos asked if I was OK, and I said ‘tell me the result of the photo and I’ll tell you how I’m feeling’,” Stanley said.

“This was always the horse’s grand final (but) we were little worried he wasn’t going to get into the race with his rating,” Young said.

One of 18 stakes performers for Tivaci, American Wolf is a half-brother to G3 winner Zee Falls and is the second stakes-winner among three winners from winning Zabeel mare Zelitist, a half-sister to G1 winner Warhorse.
