Jedibeel in Rosehill victory romp

The Brad Widdup-trained Jedibeel continued the impressive progress he has made this
preparation with a dashing victory at Rosehill on Saturday.

Since resuming, the four-year-old son of Savabeel has now won three times and posted
runner-up finishes from his other two appearances.

Rider Tyler Schiller had the Waikato Stud graduate purring along in fourth place and when
asked to get serious into the straight, the gelding cut loose to have on his closest rival at
the end of 1100 metres.

“I think he is just starting to find his feet as a horse. We gelded him this time in and he has
been faultless. It was great to see him win again, he was dominant,” Widdup said.

“He still does a lot wrong, he got into a skirmish at the top of the straight and wanted to lay in
a bit, but he is starting to put them away now.”

Widdup intends to continue raising the bar with Jedibeel next season.

“In December there is the Razor Sharp (Listed, 1200m) or something like that, which could
suit him.”

The winner of six of his 14 career starts, he is from the family of the Matamata farm’s high-
class sprinter I Wish I Win.

Jedibeel is a son of the unraced O’Reilly mare Starry, who has left five winners including the
Group-performed Starrybeel.

A half-sister to the Listed Widden Stakes winner Delta Girl and from a well-performed family
that also includes the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk, Starry produced a filly
last year by Noverre before returning to the Group 1-winning son of Savabeel.

Jedibeel was originally sold Waikato Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling
Sale for $35,000 to New South Wales operation Dengaroka Lodge.

He was later purchased by Widdup for A$190,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
