Jimmy Does Centaine Proud Again

WS played a major hand in the finish of Saturday’s Gr 1 Rosehill Guineas when crack colt Jimmy Choux provided their former champion stallion and leading broodmare sire Centaine with yet another top-flight success. For good measure current resident O’Reilly was represented by the third placegetter Shamrocker.

Jimmy Choux collected his third Gr 1 title with another classy display for Hastings trainer John Bary. “We knew he was so good back home and to perform over here is just great and we had the whole country behind us,” he said.
Centaine’s outstanding grandson will now target the AJC Derby instead of taking on the older horses in the Doncaster Handicap. “We’ll crack on against our own age group,” Bary said. “I still maintain he’s a sprinter-miler but his class gets him there.”

Shamrocker continued her excellent performances against the males with a strong finishing bid for third. The Danny O’Brien-trained filly had trumped all comers at her previous appearance to land the Gr 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington.
