Magnifico! Pacifico wins Whangarei Gold Cup Stayers’ Final
Ardrossan’s progressive son Pacifico delivered a commanding performance to take out the Whangarei Gold Cup Stayers’ Final at Ruakaka on Saturday, 28 June.
Backed up just seven days after a strong win over 1600m, the Andrew Forsman-trained four-year-old relished the step up to 2100m and once again proved too good for his rivals. Carrying 58kg, Pacifico and jockey Michael McNab jumped from barrier one of the 12-horse field to take the lead, and lead from pillar to post with no others getting a look in.
Bred and raced by the Carter family’s Jomara Bloodstock, Pacifico is the 10th foal out of the Montjeu mare Carib.
