Mulberry to run Jedibeel in their slot

The Everest field is almost complete, with Mulberry Racing announcing on Sunday that they will run their own horse, Brad Widdup-trained Jedibeel (Savabeel ex Starry) in their slot.

“It is a tough decision because it’s a very, very good Everest this year and with what’s around and things like that, it made it very difficult, but I thought he performed well on Saturday,” Widdup told racenet.com.au.

Jedibeel was fourth in the Gr.2 Premiere Stakes on Saturday. “If things go his way, he should be able to acquit himself well. We are very happy with him, he pulled up excellent.”

Michael Gregg set up Mulberry Racing in 2023 with input from Hawkesbury trainer Brad Widdup. Widdup has previously said he got a call out of the blue from Gregg in 2019, wanting to get involved as an owner in the thoroughbred industry.

Raced by Michael Gregg, Lachlan Sheridan and Mulberry Racing, Jedibeel, bred by Waikato Stud, is the seventh foal of the O’Reilly mare Starry, who has a Noverre yearling filly and is due to foal to Noverre in October of this season.
