New winner for Noverre in Australia
Noverre has another new winner, with Waiheke Rose (ex Maxmara) taking out the opening race at Kembla Grange on Saturday by a widening three lengths at just her third start.
The filly had shown plenty of promise from the outset, knocking on the door with an impressive second on debut, and she made no mistake on Saturday, drawing clear late to score in commanding style.
Purchased from our 2025 Karaka draft for $160,000 by her trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott along with Kestrel Thoroughbreds, Waiheke Rose has a name with a story behind it. Her owners named her in honour of a memorable day out on Waiheke Island with the Waterhouse/Bott team, where perhaps a few too many rosés were enjoyed.
It was a double celebration for her dam Maxmara, who had two winners on the same day. Back home, her six-year-old son Mad Max (by Savabeel) also saluted at Ashburton for trainer Terri Rae.
