Ocean Park celebrates 23rd stakes winner

Ocean Park

In the all too familiar cerise and white racing colours of Bob and Sandra Peters, their three-year-old Arcadia Park provided Ocean Park with his 23 stakes winner when saluting in the Listed Aquanita Stakes (2019m) at Bunbury in Western Australia.

Jumping as favourite in the Heavy 9 conditions, the Michael Grantham-trained gelding sat one off for the trip. With 450m to go, Arcadia Park took over from leader Redback Flyer to win at his ninth start.

Out of the Gr.2 Western Australian Derby (2400m)-winning mare Arcadia Dream, he is the third foal of the Domesday mare and provided her with valuable Black Type as a broodmare. She is the half-sister to three-time Group 1 winner Arcadia Queen.

Arcadia Dream has a weanling colt by Ocean Park on the ground and is expected to foal to the Group 1-winning and Group 1-producing sire, who, aside from her first foal, has exclusively visited Ocean Park.

Arcadia Dream was joined by Hooligan Tommy, who won well at Newcastle for John Sargent, a trainer who favours the Ocean Park stock, having trained the recent Gr.1 VRC Oaks-placed Ocean Park filly Powers Of Opal.

“He always has a good horse – they’re good, tough racehorses. He’s getting into the latter part of his career now and he’s a very good, safe, proven horse,” said Chittick.

Ocean Park will stand at a slightly reduced fee of $15,000 plus GST.
