Ocean Park sires Wednesday winner for Sargent
Trainer John Sargent, no stranger to Ocean Park after preparing his daughter Powers Of Opal to finish second in the 2024 Gr.1 VRC Oaks, produced another highlight at Randwick’s Kensington track on Wednesday, 27 August.
Hooligan Tommy (Ocean Park) scored an impressive first-up win by two lengths. Having strung together two victories before this assignment, the gelding has now made it three on the bounce.
Bred by Primadonna Mares Limited & E Smith, the five-year-old gelding is the seventh foal of the winning O’Reilly mare Contrada. He was a $50,000 buy for John Sargent from Epona Park at the 2022 NZB Karaka Yearling Sale Book 1 and has returned his connections A$189,800 prizemoney.
Ocean Park concluded Wednesday’s raceday meetings with a winner and a third-placed effort for the Chris Waller-trained Misterkipchoge.
The sire of 10 Stakes horses last season, Ocean Park has sired four Group 1 winners who have won the Stradbroke Handicap, C.F. Orr Stakes, Tattersall’s Tiara, All Aged Stakes, Epsom Handicap, George Main Stakes, Queensland Derby and Auckland Cup and will stand this season for $15,000 plus GST (LFG).
