Reliable Raetihi goes all the way
Raetihi’s honesty can’t be faulted, and he collected a deserved victory at Moonee Valley this evening.
The son of Savabeel left nothing to chance, with the four-year-old making all the running for a decisive win over 1600 metres.
Trained by David and Emma-Lee Browne, the Waikato Stud graduate has now posted two successes and nine placings from his last 12 appearances.
“He’s been known to waver in the finish, but today he was really strong to the line,” Emma-Lee Browne said.
“The form track was key for him; it was a bit shifty last time, and he enjoys things his own way, and he paraded beautifully.”
Raetihi broke well and was keen in front early before he settled well for rider Billy Egan, and after kicking clear 300 metres from home, He was purchased by Sparta Racing for $155,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale, where he was sold on behalf of Waikato Stud by Ohukia Lodge.
Raetihi is from one of the farm’s most potent families with his dam Lego, a daughter of the two-time Group 1 winner Legs with Tiptronic, Guyno and Sixty Seconds, also elite level winners in the family.
Lego has an unraced juvenile son of Super Seth, a $50,000 Karaka graduate named Super Legacy and a yearling filly by Savabeel.
