Savabeel adds a fourth with Captain in the Cup

With three significant winners for Savabeel on Saturday, one would think his star couldn’t shine brighter until Captain Pluto proved it could, taking out the Listed Bunbury Cup over 2019m in Perth late in the New Zealand evening for Grant and Alana Williams.
The five-year-old son of Savabeel jumped from barrier 13 in a full field of 16 runners sitting wide the journey in partnership with William Pike. The duo cruised through the line winning by 1.26-lengths for owner-breeder Ultra Thoroughbreds. Out of the Bernardini mare Miss Bernardini, Captain Pluto is her fifth foal.
Captain Pluto’s Listed win added to Savabeel’s super Saturday stakes haul joining full sisters Provence (Gr.1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes, 1600m) and Damask Rose (NZB Kiwi, 1600m), and Jedibeel (Gr.2 Challenge Stakes, 1000m) as significant winners on Saturday, 8 March and WS-bred Jedibeel brining up Savabeel’s 100th individual Group winner.
