Savabeel mare pounces at Te Rapa
Savacat produced a stout staying performance over 2400 metres at Te Rapa on Sunday to double her winning tally.
Prepared by Team Rogerson, the daughter of Savabeel has been a genuine performer throughout her career and unlucky on a number of occasions not to have previously added to her record.
Bred and raced by Waikato Stud, Savacat was given plenty of time to find her feet and settled toward the back of the field.
Rider Matthew Cameron urged the four-year-old around runners 700 metres from home, and she held a strong gallop to take her record to a brace of wins and six placings from 14 appearances.
A sister to the eight-time Australian winner Savvy Legend, Savacat is the daughter of the well-related Captain Rio mare Donna Cattiva, who was successful in an edition of the Listed Oaklands Plate.
She is a sister to the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Il Quello Veloce and also the family of the elite level winners Tiger Tees, Terravista and Ball Of Muscle and the former Singapore Horse of the Year and sire Super Easy.
Donna Cattiva has a yearling filly by Super Seth, produced a sister to Savacat last year and is back in foal to Savabeel.
