Savabeel mare turns back clock

Gimmeallyourlovin’ revived memories of a special mare for Waikato Stud when she broke her maiden over 1200 metres at Matamata on Wednesday afternoon.

The Savabeel mare is a daughter of the Pins mare Legs, who carried the Matamata nursery’s colours to five wins with Group 1 victories in the Kelt Capital Stakes and the New Zealand Oaks.

At stud, Legs has now produced six winners including the Listed winner Wolfwhistle and Group performer Scrutinize.

Their sibling Gimmeallyourlovin’ has been retained to race by the farm and had placed in her two previous runs for trainer Cody Cole ahead of a dominant display today.

She was given an economical run by rider Craig Grylls behind the pace before the four-year-old ranged up three wide on the turn and drew clear in the run home to score at her fourth appearance.

A half-sister to G1 WA Derby winner Guyno and a sister to the dam of dual top-flight winner Tiptronic, Legs is due to foal this season to Ocean Park having produced a filly foal in 2021 by the Group 1 winner and producer.
