Smart win for Garry’s Love
Two’s company, three’s a crowd, but not in this instance, as Smart Love (ex Relentless Desire) made it three consecutive wins this preparation when taking out the first race in the Pukekohe eight-race card on Saturday, 8 November.
The daughter of Savabeel won nearly 12 months to the day, having concluded her three-year-old season a winner on 9 November last year at Te Rapa over a mile, breaking her maiden status at just her third start.
Sent for a spell by Wexford Stables, Smart Love returned as a four-year-old in September a winner. Racing in the Waikato Stud colours for Garry Chittick’s Chittick Investments, Smart Love is the third foal of the O’Reilly mare Relentless Desire, who has a Noverre yearling filly and foaled a Ardrossan filly this season.
Wee Nessy breaks her maiden in style
Savabeel’s three-year-old filly Wee Nessy impressed at Ellerslie, charging home to break her maiden in dominant fashion. The win marked Savabeel’s 1057th individual winner, with his progeny earnings surpassing $208 million as his legacy continues to grow.
