Tivaci Ready to Run grad wins at Ellerslie

The addition of headgear proved a key factor in Popsagoosey’s (ex Common Courtesy) return to winning form at Trentham this afternoon.

The Lisa Latta-trained son of Tivaci was second-up over 1000 metres and produced a dominant performance in the hands of Jonathan Riddell.

“He had got back at Hawera last time where there was an on-speed bias and he was doing his best work late, so we put the blinkers back on to sharpen him up,” Latta said.

Popsagoosey was originally sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $5000 and Latta purchased him for $70,000 when reoffered at the Ready to Run Sale.

He is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Common Courtesy who is a sister to the dual Group 3 winner Milford with their dam a sister to the late multiple Group 1 winer and successful sire Sacred Falls.

Leading Victorian trainer Mick Price purchased Popsagoosey’s half-sister by Ocean Park at last year’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Wexford Stables went to $130,000 at Karaka earlier this year for Common Courtesy’s Super Seth filly and the mare is due to foal again to the Group 1-winning son of Dundeel.

Tivaci is represented by three at the 2024 NZB Ready to Run Sale, including Waikato Stud’s Lot 252 – Tivaci ex Zaburn who breezed in 10.77 and will be offered on Thursday, 21 November.
