Well-bred Savabeel 3YO stars on debut

A decorated Waikato Stud family was to the fore at Mornington where Knucklebones struck a winning blow at the first time of asking on Monday afternoon.
Raced by the Matamata nursery, the David Brideoake and Matt Jenkins-trained Savabeel filly overcame an awkward gate to score over 1200 metres.
The three-year-old sprinted clear at the top of the straight under rider Jamie Mott and won easing down by one and a-quarter lengths.
Knucklebones is a sister to G1 New Zealand Oaks winner and New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Amarelinha.
Their half-brother by Super Seth will be offered by Waikato Stud as Lot 131 during the Book 1 session at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale at Karaka later this month.
They are out of the unraced OReilly mare Hopscotch, who has been covered by Savabeel and is a half-sister to the multiple elite level winner Metal Bender and the family of the Group 3 winners North Pacific, Sweet Ride and Missybeel.
