Double Celebration For O’Reilly

O’Reilly played the starring stallion role at Flemington yesterday when his daughter Shamrocker won the Gr 1 Australian Guineas and he also made his presence felt in South Australia. The champion WS resident’s durable son Guyno continued his good form with victory in the Gr 3 Lord Reims Stakes.

Bred and by the Matamata farm, Guyno has returned to his best form this year and at his previous start the millionaire galloper had travelled to Melbourne to land the Listed Mornington Cup for his Ascot-based trainer Lou Luciani. That victory came off the back of a runner-up finish in the Gr 2 Perth Cup – a race he had taken out in 2009.

Guyno, the Gr 1 winner Western Australian Derby as a three-year-old, is a son of the winning Centaine mare River Century and a half-brother to the outstanding performer Legs. By Pins, she won the Gr 1 Kelt Capital Stakes and New Zealand Oaks and the Eulogy Stakes at Gr 3 level. The family also boasts Gr 1 winner Sixty Seconds (Arrowfield Stud Stakes) and the dual Gr 2 winner Arletty (Villiers Stakes, Queen of the Turf Stakes).
