Wairere Falls too good at Rosehill
The benefit of two preparatory outings stood Wairere Falls in good stead when the well-related 5-
year-old ran out an emphatic winner at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon over 1500 metres.
The Waikato Stud graduate settled in fifth spot and came across heels on straightening to finish
relentlessly under rider Tommy Berry for the sixth win of his career.
“He had match fitness on his side and I can’t take all the credit as he was backing up from seven days ago,” trainer Chris Waller said.
“He’s a decent horse and had the right conditions and the right race. A mile is probably his best
distance so we’re going to have some more fun with him.”
Wairere Falls was purchased at Karaka for $280,000 by Go Racing’s Albert Bosma and is a half-
brother to the late four-time Group 1 winner and successful sire Sacred Falls.
Their dam is two-time winner in New Zealand Iguazu’s Girl, a half-sister to the G3 Thoroughbred Club S. winner Splashing Out. She is the dam of the Group 2 winners Splurge and Shopaholic.
The latter is the dam of the Waikato Stud-bred and raced winner and G1 Australian Oaks placegetter Bargain.
