Super Book 1 sale for Seth

Waikato Stud’s Super Seth was afforded a royal welcome during the opening three sessions of New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.

The ultra-popular son of Dundeel finished Book 1 as the second leading first-season sire with 33 representatives sold for $5,305,000 at an average of $160,758.

“It’s been absolutely fantastic and probably the highlight of the sale for us, he was a phenomenal racehorse and after his G1 Caulfield Guineas win the price was massive,” Mark Chittick said.

“When you take on horses like this there is a big hill to climb and you hope they are well accepted and they have been.

“Savabeel and Tivaci had great sales again, Ocean Park keeps on kicking goals and Ardrossan has been leaving good types and already has a stakes winner.”

A stunning Super Seth filly offered by Haunui Farm was the stallion’s top lot when she sold today to the Laguna Partnership, Barry Lee Bloodstock and John Sargent Racing for $625,000.

She is a daughter of the G3 Manawatu Classic winner Valpolicella and the Red Ransom mare has been an outstanding broodmare as the dam of Group 2 winners Vavasour and Catalonia, Celebrity Dream won the G3 La Trice Classic and Rondinella was Group 1 performer.

The leading Super Seth representative for Waikato Stud, who finished as the leading Book 1 vendor by aggregate with 52 lots sold for $7,742,500, was its half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Mo’unga who sold as Lot 91 to trainer Stephen Marsh and partners for $380,000.

“He is a beautiful colt and he’s by an exciting new season stallion in Super Seth. We thought we got him for a really good price, he is a real beauty,” Marsh said.
