Strong performance from Tivaci 4YO
Tivaci’s son Lippy doubled his winning tally on Wednesday afternoon when he overwhelmed his rivals to claim top Rating 65 honours on the all-weather track at Riccarton.
Bred and raced by Waikato Stud, the four-year-old had broken his maiden last spring for trainer Andrew Forsman before relocating to Andrew Carston’s operation and had posted a couple of minor placings before scoring over 1600 metres from his new quarters.
Lippy was caught wide early before rider Joe Doyle was able to slot him in one off the fence in midfield.
They were on the move 500 metres from home and the gelding produced a sustained finish to claim the thick end of the stake.
Lippy is out of the Savabeel mare Cheex who is a half-sister to the Listed Wellesley S. winner with their dam Maritimo Miss a multiple winner who also finished fourth in an edition of the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas.
Maritimo Miss is also a sister to the two-time Group 3 winner Dating, whose daughter Date Night was a multiple black type placegetter.
Also the dam of the dual Australian winner Lotta Cheex, Cheex delivered a daughter of Super Seth last season and is back in foal to the Matamata farm’s Group 1-winning son of Dundeel.
