Super Seth’s son romps home

Super Seth added to his tally of first-crop winners when Feroce posted an impressive debut victory at Pakenham on Thursday evening.

The son of Waikato Stud’s exciting young stallion was first into stride and lengthened stride stylishly in the run home when asked for an effort by rider Billy Egan to coast home by two and a-quarter lengths at the end of 1200 metres.

Super Seth has now sired four winners, including stakes performers Poetic Champion and Diablo Blanco, from a handful of representatives and his latest success story provided the Pakenham-based horseman Dominic Sutton with his first training success.

“It’s terrific and I’ve got a lot of people to thank who have supported me along the way,” he said.

“I thought I had a really nice horse on my hands and it’s good to see him get the job done.

“All credit to the horse, he knuckled down well to put them away. I’ll see how he pulls up and might look for a race in town for him.”

Bred by Pencarrow Stud, Feroce was purchased out of Kilgravin Lodge’s New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale draft for $160,000 by Sutton and McKeever Bloodstock.

The juvenile is a son of the unraced O’Reilly mare Corinthia and is a half-brother to the Listed Karaka Classic winner Siracusa and a member of the famed Eight Carat family.
