Tivaci mare too good at Morphettville

Tivaci

Tivaci’s stakes-performed daughter Hoops has added to her record following a successful South Australian venture.

The Danny O’Brien-trained mare was presented with a gilt-edged opportunity over 1950 metres at Morphettville on Saturday and the four-year-old duly obliged with a stout winning performance.

Hoops settled well back in the field before improving wide 600 metres from home and she rounded off generously for rider Liam Riordan in the run home for the fourth victory of her career, which also features a runner-up finish in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks.

She was offered by breeder Waikato Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2021 and was knocked down to O’Brien for A$190,000.

Hoops is out of the unraced Savabeel mare Caramel Sundae who is a half-sister to Group performers Bargain and Ship Til I Drop and their dam Shopaholic won the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes.

The Matamata farm’s late multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire, Sacred Falls, is also a member of this family.

Caramel Sundae has a juvenile daughter of Ocean Park and a yearling filly by the G1 Cox Plate winner. She foaled a Tivaci filly last year and is in foal to Ardrossan.
