Super Seth’s boy shines on debut

Puntin was untroubled by weight of expectation this afternoon at Nowra where the son of Super Seth made the perfect start to his career.

The Bjorn Baker-trained representative was sent out a short-priced favourite on debut off his trial performances and he never gave his army of supporters any concerns.

He jumped well from the inside barrier to make the running under rider Rachel King and, after skipping clear at the top of the straight, held a good gallop to score at the first time of asking.

“He jumped well and Rachel rated him nicely and he ran the 1200 metres out strongly,” stable representative Luke Hilton said.

“He’s a really nice horse and has been good at the trials. He won a trial (in July) and Bjorn was patient and put him out and he had two more trials this time and won the last of them.”

Bred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock, Puntin was sold through the draft of Haunui Farm at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale and was secured by Baker and Clarke Bloodstock for $60,000.

He is out of the Encosta De Lago mare Stella Grace, a half-sister to two-time Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter Shania Dane whose brother Scintillation was a six-time stakes winner in Hong Kong.
