Sethito delivers ahead of NZB Kiwi start
Already a Group 3 winner, quality filly Sethito (Super Seth ex Suavito) produced another timely victory for Waikato Stud when she saluted in the Listed Trevor Corallie Eagle Uncle Remus Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday, 22 February.
Trained by Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott of Wexford Stables, Sethito jumped from barrier four in the 10-horse field under her regular rider Sam Spratt.
Asked of her performance today, co-trainer Lance O’Sullivan said: “She looked reasonably forward today, forward enough that the run wasn’t going to hurt her. She certainly should go on from this.”
“She’s got good tactical speed and she gets around Ellerslie particularly well, so it’s two strong points.”
Her victory comes as a timely leadup for the $3.5 million NZB Kiwi (1500m) on 8 March in two weeks’ time. Earlier this month, Waikato Thoroughbred Racing nominated the filly by Super Seth to represent their slot.
Bred and owned by Garry Chittick of Waikato Stud, out of his dual Group 1-winning mare Suavito (Thorn Park), winner of the Gr.1 Futurity Stakes and Gr.1 CF Orr Stakes, the promising filly never missed a beat over the 1400m journey.
