Porcia Catonis powers home as Super Seth’s rise continues

The winning roll for Super Seth continued on Thursday at Riccarton, where promising filly Porcia Catonis delivered a commanding performance in the Fortuna Racing colours to claim victory by 2.8 lengths.

Bred by Standard 2080 Ltd, the three-year-old daughter of Super Seth is the third foal from Dark Heather, a half-sister to Group 2 winner Heatherly. Purchased for A$110,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Fortuna Racing and David Ellis CNZM, Porcia Catonis has now notched up two wins from six starts, signalling more to come.

Her victory further underscores the rising influence of her sire. In March alone, Super Seth sired an exceptional trio of Group 1 winners across Australasia: Feroce (Gr.1 Australian Guineas, 1600m), Linebacker (Gr.1 Randwick Guineas, 1600m), and Waikato Stud’s own La Dorada (Gr.1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes, 1400m).

With a current Group 1 winners-to-runners strike rate of 4.34%, Super Seth is outperforming many proven sires at the same stage of their careers and continuing to live up to his early promise as a stallion on the rise.
