Hong Kong winner for Seth with WSNZBred

Super Seth

Wednesday night at Happy Valley saw a new star of young-gun sire Super Seth salute as the Waikato Stud-bred Team Team Folks (ex Savodara) stormed home in Race 5 over 1200m for trainer Jimmy Ting, who trained a double on the nine-race card.

Having just his third start in Hong Kong, and first for the new racing season, jockey Keith Yeung took the four-year-old gelding to the middle of the track, where he unleashed a lightning-quick turn of foot taking the lead in the final 50m.

Out of the Savabeel mare Savodara, Team Team Folks was sold by Waikato Stud for $120,000 to C Fairman at the 2023 NZB Karaka Yearling Sale, and reoffered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale by Ohukia Lodge and bought for $310,000 by Morgan Carter Bloodstock to Hong Kong connections.

Team Team Folks was the final foal of Savodara.

Team Team Folks is bred on the same cross as Group 1 winner and Waikato Stud-bred La Dorada (ex Gold Fever), who also won the RL Karaka Millions 2YO.

Super Seth became the only NZ-based stallion, ever, to record four Group 1 winners in his first two racing seasons with four – Feroce, Linebacker, La Dorada and Maison Louis. Across Australasia, this record was bettered only by Danehill (six) and equallyed by Super Seth’s broodmare sire Redoute’s Choice (four).
