WS-bred son of Sav adds the Seymour Cup to his country cups haul

Waikato Stud-bred Wymark (Savabeel ex Pasadena) has added another country cup to his record, winning Sunday’s Listed Seymour Cup for trainer Gavin Bedggood.

The Seymour success continues a terrific run of cup wins for the gelding, who claimed both the Stawell Gold Cup and the Yarra Valley Cup over the winter before two further runs ahead of Sunday’s victory. A Group 2 Tulloch Stakes winner in 2024, Wymark is proving a model of durability and a valuable member of the Bedggood stable.

Bedggood told racing.com that Wymark has been working alongside stable star Kingswood in recent weeks, and that he rated his Cranbourne gallop on Tuesday every bit as good as his Group 1-winning stablemate’s.

“I still thought he was one run away. That will have him peaking for that 1800-metre race on Melbourne Cup Day,” Bedggood said.

“He won a Saturday race at Caulfield, he won Yarra Valley Cup, he won a Stawell Cup, and now he’s won a Seymour Cup. He’s been a great money-spinner for connections, and he’ll probably end up at the Magic Millions (in January) like last year.”

Originally sold as a yearling in 2022, Wymark was later secured by Bedggood through the October 2025 Inglis Digital Sale.

Wymark is by our champion sire Savabeel out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Pasadena, making him a product of the prolific Savabeel / O’Reilly cross that has consistently produced quality, versatile racehorses. Sadly, we lost Pasadena in 2024, but her legacy continues through her daughters in our broodmare band, including Wymark’s full sister City Of Roses and the three-year-old Noverre filly Ballerdena.
