Ruska Roma gives Seth a double in Australia
In the iconic silks of Jonathan Munz, Ruska Roma announced herself in style at Seymour on Sunday, 31 August, proving far too sharp over 1200m.
The Graham Begg-trained daughter of Super Seth was making just her second career start, her first as a three-year-old, and handled the Heavy 9 conditions with ease. Partnered by Jordan Childs, she bounded from barrier one, controlled proceedings, and coasted home with ears pricked to win by 1.25 lengths.
Bred and raced by Munz from a winning half-sister to Members Joy, Ruska Roma carried echoes of her sire’s class – a sire Munz himself raced to Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas glory.
It was a day stamped by Super Seth, who posted a winning double across two states and in the hands of two notable racing identities: Ron Finemore with Strongside, the full brother to Linebacker, and Munz with Ruska Roma.
Already crowned Champion First and Second Season Sire in New Zealand, Super Seth’s tally of four Group 1 winners last season underlines why he commands $75,000 + GST (LFG) this year.
