Sharrock’s colt set for Karaka Million

A confident Gavin Sharrock is aiming high with his well-related and in-form colt Daylight Robbery (ex Villifye).

The Stratford trainer produced the son of Super Seth to finish runner-up on debut before he went one better at New Plymouth over 1100 metres this afternoon to confirm plans for a crack at a major northern feature.

“I think he’s a pretty smart horse and he’s heading to the Karaka Millions, that’s what we bought him for,” Sharrock said.

Daylight Robbery was purchased out of co-breeder Waikato Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Online Sale for $10,500.

He is a son of the O’Reilly mare Villifye, winner of the G2 Japan-New Zealand International Trophy and the Matamata farm will offer her Noverre colt as Lot 390 during the Book 1 session of next month’s National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Villifye is also a half-sister to the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Miss Keepsake.

Following scratchings, Daylight Robbery was opposed by only two rivals on Thursday and he proved too good in the hands of Lily Sutherland.

If he runs again before the Karaka Millions it will be in the Listed Wellesley Stakes at Trentham on January 11.
