Super Sethito a quality filly

Sethito (ex Suavito) took a significant rise in class in her elegant stride at Ellerslie on Saturday to claim major honours in the Gr.3 Bonecrusher Stakes.
In doing so, the Waikato Stud-bred and raced filly drew added attention to her Karaka-bound half-brother and further lifted the profile of their sire Super Seth.
Sethito had broken her maiden by a wide margin at her previous outing at Rotorua when racing in headgear for the first time and followed up in style in the hands of Sam Spratt.
“Since we put the blinkers on she has grown another leg, she had to back it up and she certainly did that,” said co-trainer Lance O’Sullivan.
The three-year-old was caught wide early from an awkward barrier before settling in second spot and strode to the front early in the run home.
She held a strong gallop to the post for a stylish victory with a Group 2 test now beckoning on her Boxing Day return to Ellerslie.
“I think going to the Eight Carat Classic is the natural progression,” O’Sullivan said.
Sethito boasts a Group 1 pedigree with sire Super Seth a Caulfield Guineas winner and his dam Suavito successful twice at the elite level in the Orr Stakes and Futurity Stakes.
Waikato Stud will offer Sethito’s half-sibling at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale as Lot 337 and the Savabeel colt is sure to be a well-sought-after youngster during the Book 1 session.
The Matamata nursery has also retained an ownership interest in Sethito’s brother who was purchased by trainer John O’Shea and James Bester Bloodstock for $325,000 at Karaka last year and has been named Stratford.

The Corner with Garry Chittick
Well, it was finally our turn. Mary and I shared in the joy of winning a race; we were there, of course. We could have settled in, in front of the TV – not driven the 50 minutes each way, but the emotions are entirely different.
