Trainers eye Kiwi with Super Seth’s son

Centennial Park for Super Seth

The inaugural running of the $3.5 million The NZB Kiwi is on the radar of Ballarat trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy for their emerging three-year-old Centennial Park.

The father and son combination have been patient with the son of Waikato Stud’s Super Seth who’s now repaying them with two wins on the bounce, the latest of them over 1600 metres at the Caulfield Heath this afternoon.

“The Kiwi race is in their minds, so if there’s any slot holders out there get on the phone as the 1500 metres is probably his prime distance as well,” stable representative Rayan Moore said.

“He’s putting a good record together and you can put him anywhere in a race, he’s very relaxed and I think he’ll get out over a bit further in time.”

The Ron and Judy Wanless-owned Centennial Park lobbed along in fourth spot and rounded off strongly in the run home for rider Jamie Mott.

“He’s still on the way up and I love the progression he’s made and there’s still so much more to come,” he said.

Centennial Park was bred by Stephanie Hole and was secured out of Wentwood Grange’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by Queensland’s KPW Bloodstock for $260,000.

He is out of the Charge Forward mare Savoia and her stakes-winning half-sister is the Waikato Stud-owned broodmare Starvoia, dam of the G1 Tarzino Trophy winner Skew Wiff.
