Villing Ram Impresses In Trial Victory For Noverre
Having finished fourth in his first trial back in September, the Paul Pertab-trained Noverre colt Villing Ram upped the ante on December 16, scoring an impressive two and a quarter length win in just his second trial, racing over 800m.
Straight to the lead under jockey Craig Grylls, who was fresh from partnering Savabeel mare Hinekaha to G2 success on Saturday, the colt was given a little steadier mid trial but sprinted stylishly into the home straight.
Pulling clear before being eased down on the line, the colt held a two and a quarter length margin from over Tivaci filly Ignore Me Not, with a further length back to Out Of The Blue, a son of Tivaci.
Bred by Miss K Fawcett, Waikato Stud Ltd and E S Wright, the colt was sold through our 2025 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale draft, knocked down to Paul Pertab Bloodstock for $110,000.

Out of the Gr2-winning O’Reilly mare Villifye, herself a half-sister to G1 Queensland Oaks Winner Miss Keepsake (Keeper), the pedigree of this colt extends back to Champion Racehorse and Sire Lonhro.
Noverre is wrapping covering his fourth book of mares and will be represented by 18 Book 1 yearlings at January’s NZB National Yearling Sale.
