So Long Farewell joins the Super Seth show
Making his fourth career start, So Long Farewell (ex Sound Of Music) proved far too good over the mile at Kembla Grange on Saturday, 21 June, scoring by an effortless 2.75 lengths.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, the three-year-old son of Super Seth carried 59kg with ease in a dominant front-running display. He became the 39th individual first-crop winner for Super Seth and 42nd overall, an impressive number from a small number of runners: 68 first-crop runners (39 winners) and 17 first-crop runners (three winners, including a Group 1 winner and Group 3-placed colt in Australia).
Sound Of Music is bred and raced by Waikato Stud and is the only foal of the O’Reilly mare Sound Of Music, who passed away at the end of last season.
So Long Farewell is bred on the successful cross that has produced 10 winners from 15 runners, including the Group 1 winner Feroce and the Waikato Stud-bred Super Phototon (ex Chandelier), along with the Group 3-placed colt Sanctified.
Super Seth‘s career is off to a phenomenal start. Following Maison Louis’ Gr.1 Queensland Derby win – adding a fourth Group 1 winner to his sire’s CV, who at close of play has a 4.9% Group 1 winners to runners strike rate, only bettered by Northern Dancer (6.2%) – click here to read.
